OTC Foundation Description: The course will focus on fractures of the foot and ankle, including pilon and ankle fracture, calcaneum and talus fracture, and Lisfranc fracture-dislocation. Many aspects will be treated, including a step-by-step description of the surgical approaches and osteosynthesis. Focusing on technical tricks and pitfalls, the course also covers the different options for fracture management in routine and complex foot and ankle injuries.
The course will also stress the management of complex fracture in diabetic patients, the state-of-the art in complex regional pain syndrome and compartmental syndrome of the foot and ankle.
In addition to lectures, hands-on cadaver workshops allow participants ample opportunities to improve their skills on approaches and fracture fixation. In small discussion groups, participants can present and discuss their most difficult cases with experienced international faculty members.
EACCME European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education
The 'OTC Advanced Course: Fractures around the Foot & Ankle ' is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists.
The 'OTC Advanced Course: Fractures around the Foot & Ankle ' is designated for a maximum of 11 hours of European external CME credits.
A maximum of 8 credits of the SGOT (Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Orthopädie und Traumatologie) will be accredited.
Each medical specialist should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Description: Many aspects will be addressed, including the ortho-geriatric co-management of the whole fractured patient. Focusing on technical improvements in osteoporotic bone fixation, the course also covers placement for conservative treatment as well as replacement surgery.
In addition to lectures, sawbone workshops allow participants ample opportunities for improving fracture fixation skills by using new devices. A generous portion of time is reserved for case discussions with experienced international faculty members.

The course will review the current techniques for locked, intramedullary nailing of long bones, as well as the use of external fixation for tibial and wrist fractures.
Special attention is paid to patient positioning techniques on the fracture table, as well as the handling of the image intensifier. Most advanced techniques like fluoronavigation are presented, as well as latest technological innovations concerning the nailing and the external fixation systems. Each session is accompanied by workshops on saw bones that allow participants to become familiar with the equipment.
Ce cours international est destiné aux infirmières de bloc opératoire et plus généralement à l’ensemble du personnel travaillant dans les blocs opératoires de traumatologie. Il permet de faire le point sur les techniques actuelles d’enclouage centro-médullaire verrouillé des diaphyses des os longs, et sur la fixation externe au niveau du tibia et du poignet.
Sont passées en revue en particulier les techniques de positionnement des malades sur la table d’opération et de manipulation de l’amplificateur de brillance. Les techniques de pointe comme la fluoronavigation sont présentées, de même que les dernières innovations technologiques concernant les systèmes d’enclouage et de fixation externe.
